Previously,questions posted in tutorial.
•How does writing reflection help the learner’s learning?
•How different is the learning experience between writing reflections with Weblogs and that of using paper and pencil?
•What are the affordances of Weblog experienced in this session?
•Revisit what you wrote for the KWL points
Here's my reply:
1. Writing relection will help learner to recap his learning, instead of leaving it till exam period. Reflection often will ascertain his knowledge on the topic if not deeper.
2. Writing of learning experience in weblogs will perhaps help the learner to keep track of his progress, since the weblog will store his posts starting from the first. Also, teacher or other learners could also give feedback to his reflection and thus enhance the learning experience.
3. Using weblog is possible for learning based on the examples we seen in lesson today. However, we have still have to consider several affordances before applying weblog in our teaching. Firstly, we must consider if our students could master the usage of weblog. Though we know that the youngsters should have little difficulties in learning technology, but it will still be a challenge if we set our target audience too young. Next, will they be able to give meaningful comments on the topic. They are still immature to complete the task themselves, then it will be a waste of time.
4. Finally, revisiting my KWL, I realise I have learnt more about weblog and reflection. Previously, I learnt weblog from a workshop during my contract teaching. However, it been a long time since I revisit the purpose and the various means of weblog. Next, reflection is a unknown approach/learning method before the tutorial. After this, I have a clearer picture. :)
Lastly, I appreciate what I have learnt today. Hope in future, I will be using them for my teaching. Even if not, guess I will not be tongue tight when my students talking about blogging!
